Meet Pianist Chloe de Souza

US-based Indian concert pianist Chloe de Souza is an emerging voice in today’s classical music landscape, rapidly gaining recognition in Houston and beyond. Establishing herself as a distinguished soloist, chamber musician, and educator, she has been presented at prominent venues including the Wortham Theater Center, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Menil Collection. A current fellow of the DACAMERA Young Artist Program, de Souza also serves on the faculties of Kinder HSPVA and Texas Southern University, is a pianist for the Houston Show Choir, and is Music Director at Bethel United Church of Christ.

A recipient of the Houston Arts Alliance Support for Artists and Creative Individuals Grant, de Souza is set to premiere Scenes from Childhood in Fall 2026—an interdisciplinary recital that pushes the boundaries of the traditional concert experience. Combining music with narrative and collaborative artistic elements, the project showcases her vision for bold, immersive performances that engage audiences in new and unexpected ways.

Her recent engagements include a critically acclaimed flute and piano recital in San Miguel de Allende and a solo recital and masterclass tour across India. She appeared as featured soloist in Dinuk Wijeratne’s Piano Concerto at the 2024 Inter-Asian Cultural Exposition in Baltimore, further affirming her reputation as a compelling and versatile performer.

De Souza holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory and the Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded the Cecile Staub Genhart Scholarship and served as an assistant in Accompanying and Chamber Music. She is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the Peabody Institute, where she has held a teaching assistantship in the Keyboard Studies Department and received the Pauline Favin Memorial Award in Piano and the Frances M. Wentz Turner Prize in Piano.

Committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians, de Souza draws upon her training from Oberlin Conservatory, the Eastman School of Music, and the Peabody Institute to cultivate both technical mastery and artistic depth in her students. She maintains a thriving private piano studio in Houston and serves as a teaching artist at the prestigious AFA Summer Music Festival Piano Arts Workshop, where she mentors young pianists through intensive instruction, chamber coaching, and performance preparation.
